Apple Maps users will now be able to see the location of COVID-19 vaccination centers in the United States. The new update will use the data available on the VaccineFinder website to share the location of vaccination centers with Maps users. IPhone users can update their Maps app to access this feature. With the new update, they can also ask Siri to share the location of the centers. The update was released on Tuesday, March 16th.
Details related to vaccination centers, such as address, hours of operation, phone number, and link to the provider’s website, will also be displayed on Maps. More vaccination centers will be added to the function which currently includes 20,000 vaccination sites.
On Apple’s business registration page, health care providers and labs can also submit details about vaccination or testing. Apple will display this data on Maps along with information from VaccineFinder.
In addition to recent efforts to help U.S. users find vaccination centers, Apple had introduced the option to find coronavirus testing sites on Apple Maps last year. Apart from the US, this feature was also made available to Maps users in Thailand, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, France, Singapore, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal and Taiwan.
The tech giant also included the feature of finding the latest news and information about the pandemic through Siri. Through the wizard, iPhone users can also find restaurant locations with outdoor restaurants.
