A day before Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, OnePlus posted a tweet where it teased a video of an unknown foldable phone (or at least what appeared to be a foldable phone). The teaser video was seen as OnePlus’s attempt to pick on Samsung over foldable phones.
But, as it turned out, the company is not planning to bring a foldable phone. The unmanned foldable phone that was shown in the video was actually two units of the OnePlus 9
stacked together. As it is, the company has announced a 50% discount on the OnePlus 9 for buyers in the US via the official OnePlus website.
It has posted another tweet that reads “Half off. Literally. Get the OnePlus 9 for 50% OFF.” The post also has a video that shows how two units of the OnePlus 9 were stacked together to create the foldable phone ‘misconception’. “Two is better than one…50% off on OnePlus 9”, the video says.

OnePlus 9 has a 6.55-inch full-HDFluid Display AMOLED display. The screen offers 1,080×2,400 pixels resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate. It runs on Android 11 with OxygenOS 11 on top and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 octa-core processor.
It packs 8GB and 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. It comes with a multi-layered cooling system called the OnePlus Cool Play. on the camera front, the phone has a 48MP Sony IMX689 primary sensor ( f/1.8 aperture), a 50MP Sony IMX766 secondary sensor (f/2.2 aperture) and a 2MP monochrome sensor. The device is backed by a 4500mAh battery.
