The Golf Information Security Expo and conference begin Monday at the Dubai World Trade Center.
The three-day event is the most important and influential of its kind in the Middle East and will bring international experts to work together to develop regional cybersecurity agendas.
Gisec 2021 will be a key platform for international dialogue on increasingly sophisticated cybercrime against governments, critical national infrastructures and sensitive corporate data.
Huawei and Microsoft are some of the companies present.
This year’s event addresses the topic “Enabling Resilience in Digital Economies” and will feature more than 180 international speakers.
Delegates will hear how international police agencies work together to fight cybercriminals.
Craig Jones, Director of Cybercrime at Interpol, and Col Saeed Al Hajri, Director of the Dubai Police Cybercrime Department, will outline joint operations to identify threats and their regional and national effects.
“As cybercriminals become more sophisticated and bold, the vigilance of governments, businesses and citizens is more important than ever,” Col Al Hajri said.
“The borderless nature of cybercrime means that organizations and individuals can be targeted from anywhere, so it is imperative to collaborate in developing strategies that help us navigate these complexities.
“Gisec is the perfect platform to spark this discussion.”
Society’s confidence in digital technologies has increased considerably during the coronavirus pandemic and, with this reliance, the scope for cyber attacks has widened.
“As we move toward a more digitally focused society after the pandemic, more devices are connected and services are put online,” said Jiawei Liu, Huawei’s chief executive in the UAE.
“So cybersecurity is more important now than ever.”
Gisec is organized in collaboration with the most influential cyber agencies in the UAE, including the UAE Cyber Security Council, the Dubai Electronic Security Center, the Dubai Police, the government regulatory authority Digital and Telecommunications, Smart Dubai and the Dubai Investment Corporation.
