WOONSOCKET, Rhode Island: Major U.S. pharmacy chain CVS Health announced this week that it will offer three brands of over-the-counter COVID-19 testing nationwide starting this week.
The new tests are designed to expand access to Covid testing in the United States.
Industry observers said tests are being offered at home to help schools and offices as they reopen in the coming months.
CVS said it would sell tests from Australian diagnostic testing manufacturer Ellume, Abbott Laboratories and LabCorp. The tests do not require a prescription and can be used by individuals, regardless of whether they show symptoms of COVID.
Abbott also announced that its tests would be available at Walgreens and Walmart.
The tests are expected to be sold in packs of two for $ 23.99.
Walmart and Walgreens will also sell the tests online.
Two of the tests, that of Ellume and Abbott, can get results in 15 minutes. The LabCorp test provides results in one or two days.
