New Delhi [India], May 21 (ANI): Following the devastation left by Cyclone Tauktae, the management of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) announced on Friday an immediate relief of 1 lakh each to the survivors and 2 lakhs each for victims of brave nature (BNV) and families of missing persons.
“At this time, we are studying the task of rescue and rehabilitation. Our trading partner Afcons, which operated the affected barges, has been with us in this task. We are saddened by the facts and express our deep sorrow for the loss of lives and “Our combined tribute to the BNV. The combined rescue and search efforts will continue for a few more days and we hope it will help us save more lives,” ONGC said in a statement.
On May 17, Tauktae had hit the Arabian Sea off the coast of Mumbai in the early hours, where ONGC’s main production and drilling facilities are located. Three Afons construction barges working on an ONGC project in western offshore fields in the Arabian Sea and its floating drilling rig were severely impacted by the cyclone.
ONGC will also facilitate the supply of logistics and expenses to dependent relatives of the rescued crew.
Tauktae had landed in Gujarat on Monday afternoon. (ANI)
