Robert George Hamilton, Aged 76, unexpectedly happened to be with the Lord in His heavenly home on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Rob was born on March 28, 1945 in Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Edward Francis Hamilton and Phyllis Mae. Hamilton. Growing up primarily in New York State, Rob enjoyed playing football, competing on track and field, and playing guitar in his band The Manhattan’s (Ilion, New York).
Rob graduated from Ilion High School in New York with his class in 1963. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering from New York State University in Buffalo.
Professionally, Rob began his career as director of the Identification Office of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Division. He would later pursue his passion for information technology as vice president of product development with Bibliographic Retrieval Services, where he introduced new design methods for multi-user information retrieval for large IBM mainframes. Ultimately, Rob founded Enable Software, which pioneered the provision of multi-user mainframe technology and products integrated into desktop computing with applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management. Software activation would be acquired by Microsoft Corporation.
Rob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. She loved watching her grandchildren’s sports games, concerts, and plays. He had many admirable attributes, but one of the most outstanding was his ability to elevate and encourage the lives of many: he wore the love of God for others wherever he went.
One of Rob’s favorite sayings was “It’s not like you’re heading into the storm; it’s like dancing in the rain. ”He was the core of his family and loved to reunite the family for vacations, family vacations, or just get together on the lake.
Rob had a strong spiritual faith and a close relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Although his time with us seemed too short and we will miss him greatly, we know that this is exactly where he is supposed to be when he now rejoices in his Lord.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Joanne Trevino.
He is survived by Mimi Hamilton, his 57-year-old loving wife; brother, Dale Hamilton and wife Caroline; sister, Carolyn Hillegeist and husband Wayne; daughter, Renee Reed and husband David; children, David Hamilton and his wife Susan, and Gary Hamilton and his wife Heidi; grandchildren Courtney Giuliana Falconieri and fiancé Daniel Di Stefano, Cassandra Helms and her husband Kevin, Christopher Reed, Caitlyn Reed, Lauren Hamilton, Jack Hamilton, Grant Hamilton and Brady Hamilton; and great-granddaughter, Santana Patton.
The services will be performed in private at the convenience of the family. Instead of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made at St Jude Children’s Hospital.
The Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville serves the Hamilton family. Condolences can be presented to the family at www.cavin-cook.com.
