PARIS, April 29 (Xinhua) – Russia has submitted a letter of candidacy to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) to host the 2030 World Expo in Moscow, the France-based organization announced on Thursday.
BIE said in a press release that Russia’s candidacy is based on the theme “Human Progress. Shared Vision of the World of Harmony.” If successful, the exhibition will take place in the Russian capital, Moscow, in 2030.
This is the first application submitted to the BIE to host the 2030 World Expo and a six-month countdown is now being promoted. During this period, all other countries wishing to organize the Expo can notify the BIE of their candidacy, he said.
World Exhibitions, officially known as Registered International Exhibitions, are held every five years and can last up to six months.
Shanghai hosted the 2010 World Expo and Milan hosted the last World Expo in 2015. The 2020 World Expo will be held in Dubai, UAE, from October 1, 2021 to March 31. of 2022, under the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.”
